Economy ministry to form team to help southern Serbia’s economic recovery

Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo said today that the ministry will set up a special team of experts tasked with tackling the economic problems that exist in southern Serbia.

At a meeting with businesspeople form Bujanovac and Presevo, Bubalo said that economic recovery of this region requires substantial assistance from the government.
What inspires some optimism is the fact that people are much more realistic than he had expected, said Bubalo.
He recalled that seven Bujanovac firms received a total of 15 million dinars of government subsidies in 2003, adding that a further 5 million dinars has been approved this year for two more local firms.
In the municipality of Presevo, the government subsidized four firms last year, while another two firms will be subsidized this year.
Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Coordinating Center for Kosovo-Metohija, head of the Pcinj and Jablanica districts, and the mayors of Bujanovac and Presevo, Nagip Arifi and Riza Halimi.
