Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society Jasna Matic today urged UNMIK chief Lamberto Zannier to stop further actions of the illegal regulatory body established by ethnic Albanian authorities in Kosovo-Metohija, which acts contrary to UN Resolution 1244.
Matic required UNMIK to establish its authority in the telecommunications sector in Kosovo-Metohija.
The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society has asked UNMIK's chief to conduct the necessary consultations with all parties in Kosovo-Metohija in order to establish the telecommunications authority of UNMIK and maintain status-neutral law enforcement in this Serbian province, as provided for by UN Resolution 1244.
The Ministry for Telecommunications and Information Society
yesterday asked International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Secretary General Hamadoun Touré to help protect the rights of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija.
ITU is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technology issues, of which Serbia has been a member since 1866.
