Radomir Naumov
Naumov, who is on a visit to Croatia for a meeting marking the completion of Southeastern Europe's reconnection to the UCTE, told the Tanjug news agency that the resynchronisation will bolster the reliability of Serbia's power supplies and its entire energy system.
According to Naumov, EU and UCTE officials have confirmed that the integration of electricity markets in Southeastern Europe into the EU electricity markets has a Europe-wide positive impact, allowing for the creation of a single electricity market in Europe.
Once a single system, UCTE was split into two zones in 1991 as a result of wars in the former Yugoslavia. Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina remained in the first zone, while the second one comprised all other countries in Southeastern Europe. The reconnection was carried out on Oct 10, 2004.
