Cvetkovic, responding to parliamentary questions at a parliament session today, said that the government did not pressurise auditors, and added that all budget users are to provide the necessary information as required by the DRI.
The DRI is essential for the democratisation of society, because it should show where taxpayers' money goes, he explained.
Cvetkovic expressed satisfaction over the fact that during the mandate of this government Serbia received its first auditing report and thus introduced this practice for the future.
He said that of the total 55 objections, which the DRI made during the control of the final budget for 2008, 38 refer to the previous and 17 to the current government.
The Prime Minister specified that 17 violations refer to the decree on budgetary accounting, 19 to the Law on the budget system, four to the Law on public debt, 11 to the Law on labour, three to the Law on public procurements and one to the Law on salaries of civil servants.
He stressed that the analysis conducted by his cabinet showed that 49 violations were repeated from the previous period, which means that this is more or less an established practice, while six have occurred for the first time.
DRI Council President Radoslav Sretenovic affirmed that the DRI did not put up with any pressure during its work, either from political parties or from the government and its state organs.
He stressed that the cooperation with the government was at a high level and the only problem the DRI faced was an insufficient workforce, which is why it was not able to complete the control of all budget users.
