At a joint news conference following the talks with Stocker in Belgrade, Vučić emphasised that Austria is Serbia’s important partner in various areas, especially in the field of economy and investment, and that they also cooperate successfully on the issue of migration and preserving stability and security in the region.
He stated that all important topics were discussed, including bilateral cooperation, Serbia’s European path, as well as improving cooperation at all levels and in all areas.
The President noted that an agreement was also signed today that covers a wide range of areas in which Serbia and Austria can enhance cooperation.
The two countries will jointly identify what is in the best interest of their citizens, he stressed, announcing that cooperation in the areas of new technologies, robotics, and artificial intelligence will be improved.
The President underlined that Serbia appreciates Austria’s support for its European path, which remains one of the country’s strategic priorities, adding that during the talks, the necessity of preserving peace and stability in the entire region was emphasised.
He conveyed that he had received a letter from Chancellor Christian Stocker confirming Austria’s participation in Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade.
Stocker pointed out that Austria is the third largest investor in Serbia and that over 800 Austrian companies operate in the country, generating approximately 25,000 jobs.
Austria seeks to deepen this partnership, and the signed agreement serves that purpose, initiating the strengthening of economic cooperation, primarily in hydropower and biomass, as well as in telecommunications, wastewater treatment, infrastructure and transport logistics, Stocker said.
He noted that the fact that the Expo is being held for the first time in the Western Balkans in 2027 is an important opportunity for the future of the entire region.
The Austrian Chancellor said that the citizens of Serbia can count on the support of his country on the path of reforms towards joining the European Union, adding that Austria supports the opening of Cluster 3 in the negotiation process and that he welcomes every effort that will bring all actors in the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština back to the negotiating table.
