Oman supports Serbia’s position on Kosovo-Metohija

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic thanked the officials of Oman today for their principled support to Serbia regarding the status of Kosovo-Metohija and underlined that no change in Oman’s attitude on this matter should be expected.

Jeremic said that his first visit to Oman took place at the right moment because some of Oman’s neighbours on the Arabian Peninsula and its international partners decided to recognise Kosovo’s independence.
During the visit Jeremic informed Oman’s officials about details of the proceedings on Kosovo-Metohija before the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
He announced that close coordination with Oman, as well as other countries from this part of the world, will continue, stressing that Serbia’s diplomatic offensive is now entering a crucial stage, bearing in mind that the final decision from The Hague will be declared in the next few months.
The Minister also met with Omani Deputy Prime Minister Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al-Said and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah.
Jeremic said that this is the first visit of a Serbian state delegation to the Oman Sultanate, with which the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia set up diplomatic relations in 1974.
He said that they reached agreement to raise the relations between the two countries to an ambassadors’ level, announcing the signing of several agreements regarding economic matters and an agreement on permanent political consultations.
Jeremic also added that Oman is extremely interested in investing in Serbia.
