Two thirds of world respects Serbia’s territorial integrity, sovereignty

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic said today that the Serbian diplomacy in the past two years has been successfull because not more than one third of the countries in the world have recognised the unilateral independence of Kosovo.

Bogdanovic told Radio Television Serbia two years upon the unilateral declaration of independence that two thirds of the countries of the world respect international law and territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia.

The Minister pointed out that the fact that 65 countries that have so far recognised Kosovo's independence shows that most countries in the world do not accept this unilateral declaration.

He said that crime and ethnic intolerance are still reigning in the province and that Serbs have no freedom of movement.

Bogdanovic reiterated that Serbia is ready for dialogue and constructive and pragmatic policy towards Kosovo-Metohija, and expressed confidence that the plan of the international civilian representative Pieter Feith to integrate the northern part of the province will fail.

The Minister stressed that the Serbs do not trust Kosovo's institutions as they have no legal protection, Serbian cemeteries are being destroyed while temporary institutions of Kosovo have not done anything to reach reconciliation between Serbs and Albanians.

Bogdanovic said that there are many problems and obstacles, and expressed hope that in cooperation with the international community they will be resolved and that the Serbs will finally be able to live like other ethnic groups in Kosovo-Metohija.

He stressed that Serbia continues to lead the diplomatic and legal struggle to preserve its integrity, and added that our country will continue this struggle until the final verdict of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

The Minister recalled that in 2009 incentives in the amount of more than RSD 80 million were granted for the creation of new jobs in the province.

Bogdanovic said that another RSD 100 million will be provided and announced a new competition for RSD 35 million for creating new jobs.
