Head of the Serbian government's Office of Media Relations Srdjan Djuric told the Tanjug news agency that the government completed the preparation of a bill on direct elections for the parliament of the state union of Serbia-Montenegro, and that the government will adopt the bill shortly.

It is impossible to discuss any form of separation of the two member states, because the Serbian government respects the Serbian Constitution and the Constitutional Charter of the State Union and is not authorised to hold such talks, Djuric stressed.
Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica agreed with Serbia-Montenegrin President Svetozar Marovic to hold a meeting of the Council for European Integrations as soon as possible, instead of the long announced meeting of state top officials, which will focus on European integrations and the acceleration of the state union's integration in the European Union, Djuric said.
He voiced hope that Montenegro will respect the Constitutional Charter, because that is the quickest way for Serbia-Montenegro to join the EU.
