The Serbian Ministry of Finance has objected to a bill on parliament, proposed by 250 deputies in the Serbian parliament, which stipulates that a parliament's working body should be charged with determining salaries and other financial benefits for appointed and elected officials, as well as for employees of the parliament's expert service, insisting that the single salary system should be retained in all state bodies.
The Ministry argued that the proposed bill, which calls for introducing new criteria for determining salaries of all parliament members, would create spending items that have not been envisaged in the budget, thus violating the Budget Law.
The proposal that the parliament should have its own account and that it should be allowed to manage funding on the account on its own, is also in violation of the Budget Law, the Ministry insisted.
