The Council for the Prevention of Violence and Improper Behaviour in Sport today most harshly condemned the behaviour of the hooligan group that shouted death threats to B92 reporter Brankica Stankovic at the Partizan–Sahtjor football match.
The Council says in a statement that the state is doing its best to protect its citizens from violent behaviour and any threats to their freedom.
The Council endorses and welcomes the activities carried out by the police, the judiciary and the prosecution to forestall this kind of behaviour at stadiums and protect the lives of all citizens and visitors who come to Serbia to attend sports events.
The Council agrees that such hooligan behaviour is intolerable in a country where sport is one of its main brands.
At its last session the Council adopted the action plan and the government passed amendments to three laws in order to stop violence at sports events once and for all, recalls the statement.
The goal of the Council is the wellbeing of all sports fans that are expected to support and understand the measures that will be implemented in the upcoming period in order to make stadiums safe places for games and contests and not stages for hooligan behaviour and threats, the statement adds.
