Minister Jocic, who is heading a delegation from the Serbian Ministry of Interior (MUP) at the conference, said that the participants should stress the importance of continuous interest by the international community and its leading institutions, NATO and the European Union, in security issues in the region.
According to Jocic, the main purpose of the conference is to open issues such as the fight against terrorism and organised crime, and all other forms of crime that jeopardise security in this part of Europe.
Jocic said that the MUP delegation will highlight the importance of tighter cooperation with strategic partners in the fight against organised crime, especially with partners from countries of southeastern Europe and with representatives of the international community.
The international conference entitled "NATO, EU and New Risks: Prospects of Southeastern Europe" is being held today and tomorrow in Sofia, at the Centre for Democratic Studies. The conference is being attended by officials from Bulgaria, Serbia-Montenegro, NATO, the EU and countries of the region.
