Leading EBRD economist Peter Sanfey said during the presentation of the report at the National Bank of Serbia that Serbia now holds 22nd place among 29 countries in the region from central Europe to central Asia.
He said that Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are behind Serbia, stressing that economic growth has been projected for Serbia next year, while this year should see a fall of 2.5–3%.
He also noted that the economic recovery rate will not be quick, but added that in the mid to long-term period Serbia has a bright perspective and the key thing now is to continue making progress in EU integration.
