Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus said today at a meeting with Governor of the Austrian province of Styria, Waltrude Klasnic, that economic cooperation between Serbia and Austria is on a very high level, stressing that Austrian investors were the first to show confidence in the Serbian economy after democratic changes.
Labus said that there are many Austrian and Styrian companies in Serbia and added that the Serbian government carries out measures to improve and strengthen economic environment, and to eliminate all obstacles to investing.
Serbia is firmly committed to European integrations, the Deputy Prime Minister said, voicing hope that Austria will fully support Serbia-Montenegro on its path towards the European Union.
The Styrian Governor said that the improvement of Austrian and Serbian economic relations are the goal of the two countries' governments. She wanted to know how far the preparation of the Serbian Constitution has come, especially of those segments that refer to investment.
Klasnic also said that it is important to improve cultural cooperation and media policy. The Austrian government prepared programmes of education and advanced training for Serbian media in the field of general and economic journalism.
