Predrag Simic, adviser to Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, told Tanjug news agency today that Belgrade by no means want to be the one to obstruct the efforts of the international community to achieve its objectives in Kosovo-Metohija and create a multiethnic, multicultural, and tolerant society.

Simic stressed that all Belgrade’s efforts are directed towards creating such a society within a realistic framework and he added that Belgrade has often suggested that the situation in Kosovo-Metohija is such that it provides no conditions for achieving these objectives.
“In that sense, Belgrade did not wish that the fact that Serbs did not take part in the provincial parliamentary elections be something to undermine the international community’s efforts,” said Simic and added that Belgrade wanted show that the reality is quite different and that the issue of elections in Kosovo-Metohija at this moment is not more important that the question of survival, security, and return of Serbs to the province.
