New consumer protection law to meet highest European standards

Minister of Trade and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic and Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Radovan Jelasic said today that a new law on consumer protection will be drafted according to the highest European standards.
Under this law the individual consumer will receive the same rights as those in the EU.
Milosavljevic explained that this law will increase consumer protection since the defence costs in case of litigation will have to be born by the retailer or service provider. Also, retailers will be bound to provide full and truthful information about the product to the consumer before the sales or service agreement is concluded.
