State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric and General Manager of the Fiat Automobili Srbija Giovanni de Phillips today attended the start of the production of the LPG powered Punto in Kragujevac.
The event was also attended by Republika Srpska Minister of Trade and Tourism Predrag Gluhakovic and 45 new Punto cars will be delivered to buyers from Republika Srpska.
De Philipis said that soon the details of the business plan according to which Fiat will invest €800 million into Zastava's production plants will be known.
Zastava General Manager Zoran Radojevic said that in October the factory completed all its preparations for the start of production of the new LPG powered Punto.
In mid-April Zastava launched production of the Punto Classic.
Zastava assembles 120 Puntos per day, which is a record number over the last 19 years for the Zastava factory.
On September 28 last year Serbia and Fiat signed a strategic agreement on joint investment in Zastava, which provides for the production of entirely new class A and B models in Kragujevac and investment of €800 million.
Four months later, another contract was signed in Turin for the assembling of Puntos.
