All Souls’ Day celebrated in orthodox cemeteries in Kosovo

Around 300 Serbs from northern Kosovska Mitrovica today visited the orthodox cemetery in the southern part of the city, accompanied by the Kosovo Police, to mark All Souls’ Day.
No incidents took place during the visit to the cemetery, where Albanian vandals have demolished and desecrated over 80% of the gravestones.
In the Serbian cemetery in the south of the city over 500 gravestones were destroyed and desecrated, while not a single gravestone in the Albanian cemetary in the northern part has been damaged in any way.
On All Souls’ Day IDPs from Kosovo-Metohija visited places they were banished from and cemeteries where their ancestors are buried. The Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija organised transport for them.
As in previous years, the Ministry secured financial and logistical support to citizens from Kosovo-Metohija wishing to mark this religious holiday.
It secured 12 buses and escorts to take IDPs and refugees to Prizren, Kosovska Mitrovica, Gnjilane, Pristina, Suva Reka, Obilic and Djakovica.
