Jeremic, who is on a visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina, said after a meeting in Banjaluka with Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik that Serbia respects the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia-Herzegovina and that it has good relations with Republika Srpska, in line with the agreement on special parallel ties.
Also, the minister reiterated that Serbia is committed to EU integration and that it contributes to peace and stability in the region.
Dodik said that he will call on all relevant factors in Bosnia-Herzegovina to meet as soon as possible and examine open issues in the country, adding that that meeting should be held in Banjaluka within the next ten days.
He said that Republika Srpska has support for that from Serbia and Russia, with whose presidents, Boris Tadic and Dmitry Medvedev, he held talks recently.
Dodik said that Republika Srpska has good cooperation with Serbia and that economic projects stipulated under the agreement on special parallel ties are currently underway.
Jeremic visited Sarajevo earlier today and said at a press conference held after the talks with member of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina Haris Silajdzic and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sven Alkalaj that Bosnia-Herzegovina is Serbia’s closest and most important neighbour.
The Minister said that Serbia is ready to help Bosnia-Herzegovina on its way to Euro-Atlantic integration, adding that Serbia is also willing to help facilitate stabilisation in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
He said that Serbian citizens will soon be able to travel to EU countries without visas, stressing that Serbia can offer technical support and advice on the visa liberalisation process.
Jeremic said that it is admirable that the two countries have respect for each other’s sovereignty and integrity, stressing that Serbia supports Bosnia-Herzegovina in all international organisations and institutions.
Serbia supported Bosnia-Herzegovina as a member of the UN Security Council. I think that this is important because now this part of the Balkans has direct representation in the Security Council, stressed Jeremic. He said that Serbia will support any agreement reached in Bosnia-Herzegovina between the three sides.
We have a joint future in the EU and if we support each other, I am sure that we will succeed, said Jeremic, adding that Serbia is ready to become part of wider talks.
He said that the purpose of his visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina is to convey the message that Belgrade supports dialogue which will lead to a compromise. He said that he hopes that the problem concerning the appointment of a Bosnia-Herzegovina ambassador to Serbia will be resolved soon.
The Minister sharply criticized Macedonia’s agreement with Kosovo concerning border demarcation, which lays claim to over 2,500 hectares of Serbian land. Official protests have been conveyed to Pristina and Skopje.
