State Secretary of the Serbian Ministry of Finance Slobodan Ilic met in Istanbul with Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Europe and Central Asia Jyrki Koskelo and IFC Regional Director Shahbaz Mavaddat. IFC is a member of the World Bank Group.

The meeting focused on ways of boosting cooperation in the field of agriculture in Serbia with the help of IFC experts and the four banks in which the state is a majority owner.
IFC representatives showed interest in taking part in the upcoming recapitalisation of Komercijalna Banka together with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and other international investors. They also mentioned the possibility of investing in some companies in Serbia.
During the meeting, Ilic presented the activities of the Serbian government concerning the adoption of new laws, such as the law on securities, law on public property and amendments to the Law on public debt, which should allow for the issuing of municipal bonds.
