Following the fourth session of the Serbia-Belarus Intergovernmental Committee for Trade and Economic Cooperation, held at the Serbian Government Palace, Kalanovic pointed out that the two sides had reached agreement on a majority of issues, adding that the next committee session is scheduled for 2010.
She stressed that the two sides signed a free trade agreement, which will encourage the setting up of joint factories for producing tractors, construction equipment and buses and therefore help develop cooperation in the agricultural, traffic and tourism fields.
Belarus Minister of Trade Valentin Chekanov said that the activities of the Committee will contribute significantly to the promotion of economic and trade cooperation between Serbia and Belarus.
Agreements on business cooperation between Serbia and Russia and cooperation between the Serbian Export Credit and Insurance Agency and the Beleksimgarant Company from Belarus were also signed.
According to the Committee’s data, this year’s trade exchange between the two countries stood at $23.7 million, which is 28% down on the same period last year.
