In August 2009, compared to August 2008, retail prices went up by 8% and compared to December 2008 by 5.9 %.
Observed by groups, the greatest increase in August was recorded in the prices of recreation and culture (1.5%) and communication (1.2%), while the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages went down by 1%.
The prices of other goods and services did not change significantly.
CPI COICOP represents a special retail prices index calculated according to the methodology harmonised with recommendations for retail prices index calculation in the EU (Harmonised Price Index).
