Ikarbus tender fails

The Serbian Privatisation Agency today stated that an agreement on the sale of the shares of Ikarbus, Belgrade to Avtodetal-Service from Russia through public tender, made on August 11, 2008, has been breached.
According to a statement, the potential buyer has not managed to meet all the required criteria.
In an extraordinary revision, carried out by the Privatisation Agency on August 20, 2009, it was confirmed that salaries have not been paid since February 2009, as well as that overall debt for the period from December 2008 to June 2009 is RSD 142,564,409.
It was also determined that a strike of Ikarbus employees started on July 1, 2009 and that on July 15 the Ikarbus account, containing RSD 765,782,168 was frozen.
According to the privatisation law, the agreement can be breached if a buyer does not submit documentation proving that all their obligations have been met by the second deadline, concludes the statement.
