Serbian government’s Media Relations Office head Srdjan Djuric said today that funds from the Republic of Serbia budget were not used to finance the protest of Serbs from Kosovo-Metohija that was organised in Belgrade, adding that the money taken from the budget goes exclusively for the salaries and investments.

At a regular press conference for accredited journalists, Djuric said that it is impossible that the money could be used for some other purposes since the budget is under strict control.
He explained that there are three principles of financing the Serbian institutions in Kosovo-Metohija – self-financing, financing from the funds set by UNMIK and the Republic of Serbia budget.
Djuric announced that Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica will suggest to Serbia-Montenegrin President Svetozar Marovic that the European Integration Council holds its session in the shortest time possible in order to discuss final definition of the “two-lane track” association with the European Union (EU).
He reiterated that the government strictly obeys the definitions from the Constitution and Constitutional Charter, which leaves no possibility to the government to negotiate concerning the state union’s dissociation.
The Media Relations Office head pointed out that the government is making strenuous efforts in order to present the new Serbian Constitution, and said that Prime Minister Kostunica has had many talks with political party leaders.
Djuric reiterated the government’s stand about cooperation with The Hague, adding that all those indicted by the Hague tribunal should follow in Ljubisa Beara’s footsteps, who surrendered to the tribunal at The Hague.
