Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus has called on German companies to invest in Serbia, noting that the country's investment risk level is lower than that in Romania or Bulgaria.
In an interview with the DPA news agency, Labus said that a €150 million investment by German retail chain Metro will send a positive signal to other German companies.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Belgrade officials will meet with prospective German investors in early December, pledging his personal engagement for the realisation of any investment project exceeding €5 million.
He added that Germany may again become Serbia's major economic partner and noted that the bulk of Serbia's imports still come from Germany.
Labus went on to say that construction sites and licenses represent the main obstacles to investing in Serbia, stressing that the government will ask local governments to provide land free of charge to foreign companies whose investments include new jobs.
