Active role of UNMIK in Kosovo of utmost importance

Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, who is taking part in the high-level UN Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis in New York, spoke today about the problems in Kosovo-Metohija with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Cvetkovic said that the UN should continue to be the chief mediator for solving all issues in the southern Serbian province.
He stated that UNMIK’s active role in stabilising the situation and securing long-term peace and dignified living for all citizens in Kosovo-Metohija is of utmost importance. Cvetkovic also pointed out the importance of the UN Conference on the World Financial and Economic Crisis as it gives the opportunity to developing countries to present their problems and learn about the experiences of other countries in preventing adverse effects of the economic and financial crisis.
