May prices, services up 2.1% against April

The Serbian Statistics Office today said that the prices of goods and services in Serbia in May 2009 increased 2.1% against April.
In comparison with May 2008 they increased 9.1%, while compared to December 2008 they went up 7%.
Observed by groups, the greatest increase in May was recorded in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.8%), transportation (3.6%), health sector (0.9%) and footwear and clothes (0.7%).
The prices of other goods and services did not change significantly.
CPI COICOP represents a special retail prices index calculated according to the methodology harmonised with recommendations for retail prices index calculation in the EU (Harmonised Price Index).
CPI COICOP is defined as a measure of the average change in retail prices of goods and services used for personal consumption.
