Serbia-Montenegro appoints Zoran Sami as parliament speaker

The Serbia-Montenegrin parliament has appointed Zoran Sami of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) as new speaker.

Sami's appointment was backed by a total of 77 deputies, 47 from Serbia and 30 from Montenegro. Seven deputies were opposed, while 30 were sustained.
Sami said in his first address that the parliament will reshuffle the Council of Ministers and call a separate session to discuss the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
Passing a new law on Serbia-Montenegro's national flag, anthem, coat of arms, property, military, and court will also be on the parliament's agenda, Sami added.
