Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic stated that Serbia managed to persuade members of the Organisation of American States (OAS) not to recognise Kosovo independence.
Participating in the OAS General Assembly in Honduras, he told Tanjug news agency that the Serbian delegation met with over 20 delegations at the conference.
We cannot exclude the possiblity of individual recognitions though, Jeremic noted.
The meetings with OAS members confirmed that Central and South American countries are still being greatly pressured, Jeremic said, adding that there was a great danger that the pressure would culminate at this conference but hopefully Serbia has prevented that.
Jeremic said that he presented Belgrade’s positions on Kosovo and plans to continue with diplomatic activities to protect the integrity of Serbia.
Our diplomatic battle continues; the UN Security Council session in New York and the African Union Summit in Libya are ahead of us, and we are not giving up, he said.
