May prices up 1.5% against April

The Serbian Statistics Office today said that the prices of goods and services in Serbia in May 2009 increased on average by 1.5% when compared to the previous month, the prices of goods increasing by 2% and the prices of services by 0.3%.
In May 2009, compared to May 2008, retail prices went up by 10.4% and compared to December 2008 by 8.7%.
Living costs in Serbia in May, compared to the previous month, went up by 1.6%.
In May 2009, compared to May 2008, living costs increased by 8.2% and compared to December 2008 by 6.8%.
The prices of agricultural products went up by 9.3%. The increase was due to the seasonal shift in the price of vegetables, fruit and fish.
The price of industrial food products went up 0.6% on average, the prices of tobacco remained at the same level while the price of industrial non-food products increased by 2.3%.
The prices in this group were affected by the rise in the prices of oil derivatives. The prices of other products did not change significantly.
The price of services increased by 0.3% on average.
