He said that despite the economic crisis the food industry increased exports in March 2009 by 11.5% against the same period last year.
They agreed that Serbian regulations and procedures need to be harmonised with EU regulations.
Representatives from the food industry proposed that primary food production in Serbia receives subsidies in line with European standards.
They agreed to form an operative group comprising representatives from the food industry and the government, which should solve the issue of the outstanding debts from retail chains to suppliers.
Present at the meeting were representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Ministry of Finance, Customs Administration and Tax Administration, adds the statement.
