In March 2009, compared to March 2008, retail prices went up by 9.4% and compared to December 2008 by 3.8%.
By groups, in March 2009, compared to the previous month, the prices of furniture and utilities went up by 0.7%, the prices of food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, tobacco, recreation and culture increased by 0.6% and the prices of transport, clothes and shoes went up by 0.4%
The prices of other goods and services on average remained at the same level as the last month.
CPI COICOP represents a special retail prices index calculated according to the methodology harmonised with recommendations for retail prices index calculation in the EU (Harmonised Price Index).
