The average increase of consumer prices in 2008 stood at 11.7%.
Observed by groups, the greatest increase this January was recorded in the prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (11.3%), communication services (6.8%), health care (6.4%), housing, water, electric energy and gas (3.4%) and transport services (3.1%).
The prices of other goods did not change significantly.
CPI COICOP represents a special retail prices index calculated according to the methodology harmonised with recommendations for retail prices index calculation in the EU (Harmonised Price Index).
CPI COICOP is defined as a measure of the average change in retail prices of goods and services used for personal consumption.
