Speaking to the BBC, Jeremic said that Serbia understands the security situation in Kosovo, the problems of UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier and the international civilian mission as well as what kind of pressure Kosovo Albanians might exert on them.
However, we need to fulfill what the UN Security Council envisaged when adopting the six-item plan, Jeremic stressed, noting that the plan envisions Serbia as UNMIK’s negotiating partner.
Jeremic warned that if Kosovo recognition was set as a condition for Serbia to achieve any of it’s aims, it would force Serbia to violate its
Constitution.
We do not want any misunderstanding with the EU which could result in a slowing down of the EU integration process for Serbia and the Western Balkans, which I think is in our common interest, said the Foreign Minister.
Serbia is a key country in the region and if it is on the right path all of the Balkans will be on the right path with it, Jeremic concluded.
