Serbia’s interest to begin talks on the six-item plan as soon as possible

Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic today stated that Belgrade is ready to meet with international representatives and discuss all issues essential to the Serbian community in the province.

Bogdanovic told the Tanjug news agency that it is in Serbia’s interest to begin talks on the UN Security Council’s six-item plan as soon as possible, especially since there has been increased tension in the province after a series of incidents and EULEX’s unilateral decision to supervise the entry of goods in northern Kosovo-Metohija.

I believe we should immediately begin talks with UNMIK regarding the functioning of the judiciary, police, customs, transport, borders and the Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo-Metohija, the Minister stressed.

Speaking about the statement by UNMIK spokesmen Alexander Ivanko that all interested parties have been invited to talks about the cultural heritage in the province and that the meeting should take place in Pristina next week, Bogdanovic said it is good that the talks will finally begin, but added that it may have been better to start the other way round.

Protection of cultural and religious heritage is important and I commend the efforts to bring up this matter, but I would like to point out that we should begin talks on other points of interest which concern the judiciary, police ad other items of the six-item plan, concluded Bogdanovic.
