Trade with Kosovo-Metohija without significant problems

Minister of Trade and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic stated that there haven’t been any significant problems in trade with Kosovo-Metohija, adding that the province is extremely important for Serbia’s economy, since it is worth $600 million a year.

Milosavljevic told the Tanjug news agency that this is not export in the classic sense of the word, but the sale of products to the portion of Serbia’s territory under the UN’s special protectorate.
He recalled that Serbia has denied entry for Kosovo-Metohija goods portraying the insignia of the self-proclaimed Kosovo customs office instead of UNMIK’s, adding that this trade is nevertheless carried out without any significant issues.
According to him, when this problem first came up the Serbian government notified the CEFTA secretariat, as well as the EU and UN authorities and filed a complaint, stating that UN Security Council Resolution 1244 is not being implemented and that the self-proclaimed Kosovo customs office is putting its insignia on customs export declarations of the goods which enter the province’s territory.
If these disturbances reoccur, Serbia has the mechanisms to react and it is in the interest of the Serbian market to be supplied with good quality products, the Minister concluded.
