Bogdanovic invites Kosovo Serbs not to join Kosovo security forces

Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic and municipal presidents from northern Kosovo said that the formation of the Kosovo security forces is not in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and invited Kosovo Serbs not to participate in this paramilitary organisation.

At a press conference, Bogdanovic said the fact that KFOR and other international organisations are encouraging Serbs to join the Kosovo security forces is entirely unacceptable.
He said the Ministry has announced a public invitation for granting loans totalling RSD 200 million to encourage economic development in the province.
The Minister stressed that the basic goal of the programme is to stimulate economic development as a precondition for creating new jobs and improving the standard of living in Kosovo-Metohija.
According to him, legal entities from the territory of Kosovo-Metohija have the right to apply for these loans, but the same goes for other legal entities, provided they are willing to invest in the province.
Bogdanovic said that the budget for 2009 envisages RSD 39 billion for the province, adding that the distribution of these funds will be strictly monitored.
Zubin Potok municipal president Slavisa Ristic said that municipal presidents had already warned KFOR representatives that if they continue supporting the Kosovo security forces, their relationship with Kosovo Serbs may be hampered.
Bogdanovic talked with municipal presidents of Zvecani, Leposavic, Kosovska Mitrovica and Zubin Potok, as well as with Radenko Nedeljkovic, the Head of Kosovska Mitrovica District, about the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija in political and security terms.
