Russia’s principled support concerning Kosovo status

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said that Russia’s support for Serbia’s diplomatic fight for the preservation of the Constitution and its territorial integrity is not related to their gas arrangement.
In an interview with the Economist magazine, Jeremic said even the two sides had not signed the gas agreement, Russia would still support Serbia.
Russia’s support concerning the status of Kosovo-Metohija is a matter of principle, stressed Jeremic.
He voiced his belief that the International Court of Justice will affirm that the unilaterally declared Kosovo independence is not in accordance with international law.
In that case Kosovo will not be recognised by any other country and the so-called the Republic of Kosovo will not be admitted into any international institution, which will lead to the continuation of negotiations with Belgrade and the reaching of a compromise, said Jeremic. The Minister added that Serbia is now struggling to continue negotiations concerning the status of Kosovo.
