The Serbian Statistics Office stated today that the GDP real growth rate in the third quarter of 2008, compared to the same period in 2007, was 4.9%.
The biggest growth was seen in the financial mediation sector, which grew by 13.9%. The transport sector grew by 13.6%, trade by 7.6% and the stone and ore mining sector by 4.2%.
The hospitality sector fell by 1.8%.
The transport sector contributed 1.8% to the GDP, the biggest among all the sectors. The financial mediation sector 0.9% and trade 0.8%.
Compared to the same period in 2007 the GDP in the first nine months of 2008 grew by 6.5%.
