Ljajic said at the occasion that the 50 flats were built with funds provided by the Japanese government, from the National Investment Plan (NIP) and the Belgrade City budget.
He recalled that the flats were built as part of the project, “Social housing for disabled war veterans and families of killed soldiers”, under which 318 flats have been built in 11 municipalities and cities in Serbia up until now.
He said that 206 flats were built with funds provided by the Japanese government and 112 were built with NIP funds, adding that the construction of a few more flats in Sremska Mitrovica and Leskovac needs to be finished to complete the project.
The Minister announced that the government will continue investing in the construction of flats for the remaining disabled war veterans.
Ljajic thanked the Belgrade Mayor and the Japanese government, which has invested more than € 200 million since 2000 and therefore is considered the biggest donor to Serbia.
This is the last public appearance of Japanese Ambassador Nagai, as his term in office ends in 10 days.
The Disabled War Veterans Association presented letters of thanks and gold plated plaques to Ljajic, Djilas and Nagai.
