Serbia, US building partnership aimed at future, shared prosperity

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić and Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the United States of America in Belgrade Alexander Titolo stated today that Serbia and the US, based on a long history of cooperation and shared values, are today building a partnership aimed at the future and shared prosperity.

At the opening of the exhibition “From Convention to Strategic Partnership”, dedicated to the 145th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Serbia and the United States, Đurić recalled that diplomatic relations between Serbia and the US were established after the trade agreement of 1881 and the arrival of the first American envoy, Eugene Schuyler, to Belgrade in 1882.

According to him, Serbia is optimistic about the further development of relations with the United States, which is an important political, cultural and economic partner, especially in the field of services.

Expressing his belief that relations between Serbia and the United States will be elevated to the level of strategic partnership in the coming period, Đurić said that the best period of Serbian-American relations is yet to come.

Titolo assessed that Serbia and the United States are today building a new era of relations based on mutual respect, economic and technological cooperation and close ties between their peoples.
