Speaking at the awards ceremony Cvetkovic said that Ball Packaging has set a great example in long term cooperation between investors and the state. He said that, as the first Greenfield investment in Serbia, Ball Packaging has been one of the main exporters in the country during recent years.
The Serbian Prime Minister stressed that regardless of the current circumstances and the threats posed by the global financial crisis the government will continue to support the economy, particularly exporters, by introducing a new set of incentives for 2009.
Director of Ball Packaging Europe David Banjai said that the credit for the award goes to the entire local team at the factory, adding that he is extremely pleased to receive the award because it confirms that the company has very successfully integrated into the Serbian economy and is contributing to its development.
Techno Naiss Group received the award for the best new export product, Termometal and Radijator Inzenjering were given best exporter awards in the small and medium-sized enterprises category and the company Marni received the award for conquering new markets.
The company DHL International Belgrade, sponsor of the SIEPA award, presented the companies Techno Naiss Group, Termometal, Radiator Inzenjering and Marni with a total of €30,000 in transport and courier services.
SIEPA Director Vesna Peric said that this is the fifth year that these awards have been presented to the best Serbian businesses to encourage and promote exports, adding that the SIEPA awards have created a great deal of interest.
Peric commended the fact that a majority of the winning companies had a chance to show their potential on foreign markets due to their qualitative products and the SIEPA award.
DHL General Director Darko Babic said that this year DHL had again supported the best exporters and therefore contributed to the promotion of Serbian products, a good foreign trade deficit ratio and overall economic growth.
The company’s aim is to have Serbian products in foreign markets and international fairs in 2009, said Babic.
The Ball Packaging Europe Company’s exports during the period January to September, 2009, made up 68% of its overall production.
Radijator Inzenjering and Termometal are good examples of successful SMEs, as they constantly introduce innovations and invest in their production, resulting in their good export record to the EU.
Tehno Nais Group was presented the best new product award for a CT scan, which put the company in third position in the world regarding the production of scanners for ORL diagnostics. The Marni Company succeeded in placing its mushroom products on the American market.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic and Minister for Telecommunications and Information Society were present at the award ceremony.
