Reconstruction of Kosovo-Metohija monasteries to be continued

Serbian Minister of Culture Nebojsa Bradic today stated that the Ministry will support the reconstruction of Serbian orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo-Metohija and take care of Serbian people and clergy.

At the Gracanica Monastery Bradic talked with Bishop of Raska and Prizren Artemije, pointing out that Serbian culture and heritage are the basis of the life for Serbs in the province and therefore it is of great importance to continue the reconstruction of monasteries.

Speaking about the reconstruction of the Patriarchate of Pec, which is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list, Bradic announced that the Ministry and representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church will take care of it from now on.

The Ministry’s goal is to contribute to the return and future life of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija and to the province’s sustainable development, stressed the Minister.

Bishop Artemije said that the Minister’s visit is of great importance for the protection of Serbian culture and heritage in the province.

Having visited the Gracanica Monastery, the Minister talked with Kosovo media representatives in Serbian at the Caglavica media centre, where he announced the Ministry’s help for the next year.

Bradic today visited Kosovska Mitrovica, where he met with cultural representatives. The Minister will also attend the opening of the Domestic Film Festival in Leposavic.
