In the group’s second meeting, held today in Belgrade, it was decided that Italy should support Serbia’s health, energy, education, environmental protection, agricultural, and social housing sectors with EUR 65 million and encourage economic growth through loans to small and medium sized businesses.
The meeting also covered ways to resolve inherited economic problems between the two countries in order to create conditions to restore the confidence of Italian investors in Serbia.
The working group also agreed on details of an upcoming visit to Serbia by Italian businessmen. The visit, scheduled for October 18, has the aim of presenting investment opportunities in Serbia to potential partners from Italy.
Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations Predrag Bubalo, who is also the group’s co-chairman, hosted today’s meeting. The state undersecretary for foreign affairs, Roberto Antonioni, represented the Italian contingent.
