Minister Lalovic visits orphaned children

Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Affairs Slobodan Lalovic visited a care centre for orphans in Nis last night.

Lalovic said that the goal of his ministry is to carry out "a deinstitualisation of social care institutions, because their purpose must not be to retain the users of these services forever."
Speaking about experiences related to the project of foster parenting in Serbia, Lalovic said that the results in Serbia are among the best when compared with other countries that took part in the project.
Lalovic announced the holding of a social innovations competition with the best ideas and projects receiving financing.
The Nis care centre "Dusko Radovic" launched a project of making children capable of living independently, finding employment and creating their own families. The centre houses more than 70 orphans, aged six to 20, from Nis, Pirot, Prokuplje and Sumadija, the Tanjug news agency reported.
