Anti-Corruption Council requests changes to Anti-Corruption Agency bill

President of the Anti-Corruption Council Verica Barac has requested the withdrawal of the draft law on the Anti-Corruption Agency from parliamentary procedure in order for it to be redrafted.

Barac explained that the legislation deals mainly with the problem of conflict of interest, noting that there is not enough political will to fight against corruption.
The only solution is good laws, the solving of practical problems and creating efficient institutions, she said.
She noted that the bill mentions in only one article the financing of political parties, which is in fact the crucial problem of corruption.
Barac also noted that the bill abolishes the parliament’s committee for the prevention of conflicts of interest.
