The Serbian Statistics Office said today that prices of goods and services in Serbia in September 2008 jumped 1% against the previous month, whereas in comparison with September 2007 they increased 10.9%.
Observed by groups, the greatest price increase this September was recorded in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (8.1%), recreation and culture sector (2.5%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.7%) and education (1.4%).
The greatest drop in prices was recorded in transport sector services (2.5%) due to lower prices of oil derivatives.
The prices of other goods did not change significantly.
CPI COICOP represents a special retail prices index calculated according to the methodology harmonised with recommendations for retail prices index calculation in the EU (Harmonised Price Index).
CPI COICOP is defined as a measure of the average change in retail prices of goods and services used for personal consumption.
