According to procedure, UN General Assembly President Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann will invite those present to speak following the presentation by Jeremic.
In order for the resolution to be passed, it is necessary that a majority of the present members vote in favour of it, and not a majority of the total 129 UN members, which means that absent members or those who abstain from voting will not be counted.
If the resolution is passed, the request being forwarded to the ICJ will become a request by the UN General Assembly, and the formulation of the request will depend on whether amendments will be proposed and adopted at the debate.
When the ICJ receives the request, it will determine the dynamics, deciding whether it will be an urgent or a regular procedure.
