Consultations on new Kosovo resolution to continue

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic said today that consultations with parliamentary groups on harmonising the text of a new resolution on Kosovo will be continued, but the formulation “EULEX and the presence of international community” is posing problems at the moment.
Speaking to the press following talks with representatives of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), New Serbia (NS) and minorities parties, Bogdanovic said that the government agrees that any international presence in Kosovo must be approved by the UN Security Council and Serbia, but certain parliamentary groups are demanding that the resolution must mention EULEX.
Considering the fact that there is a possibility that other missions are deployed to the province as well, our formulation is acceptable, said the Minister, adding that he hopes that a unified stance will be reached regarding the text of the resolution, given the gravity of the situation and the message which must be conveyed to Kosovo Serbs.
The Minister explained that resolutions on Kosovo-Metohija, submitted by MPs of the DSS, NS and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which were on the agenda of the upcoming parliament session, will be withdrawn if parties agree to a single text.
According to Bogdanovic, including several Kosovo resolutions in the agenda would not be a good solution, which is the reason why the government has withdrawn its proposal with the intention of creating unity among parliamentary groups on the matter so that the clear message is sent to Kosovo Serbs and to the international community that Serbia does not wish to give up its province.
Bogdanovic reiterated that it would not be good that neighbouring countries recognise Kosovo’s independence, and said that certain diplomatic steps will be taken in this respect.
