Europe responsible for situation in Kosovo

State Secretary at the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija Oliver Ivanovic met today in Kosovska Mitrovica with representatives of the international conference of european missions for justice and peace and discussed the situation in the southern Serbian province.
The Ministry’s office in Kosovska Mitrovica states that the collocutors agreed that Europe is particularly responsible for the situation in the province, as well as that European countries must pay more attention to the problem of missing and kidnapped persons, unsolved crimes and destruction of churches and monasteries.
Ivanovic said he believes that in such a situation, church officials may play an important role in bringing various communities together, primarily by advocating spirituality.
According to him, the Serbian community will not accept Kosovo’s independence and it disagrees with the Albanian view of the past, though there are many common subjects between them.
Representatives of the international conference pointed to endangered human rights in the province, the need for reconciliation and the attempt by representatives of different confessions to contribute to mutual reconciliation of peoples, adds the statement.
