Government recommends new resolution on Kosovo-Metohija

Serbian Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic said today that the government drafted a new resolution proposal on Kosovo-Metohija and forwarded it to party whips in Serbian parliament.

After short consultations in parliament, Bogdanovic stated to the press that the new proposal comprises opposition parties’ suggestions that international presence in the province cannot be accepted without the UN Security Council and Serbia’s approval.
According to Bogdanovic, the provision that all acts of the so-called Republic of Kosovo, including the Kosovo constitution, are null and void has been added to the document.
The Minister explained that the new resolution implies further fight for the preservation of Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for economic development of Serbs in the province.
Bogdanovic said that the proposed resolution includes greater care for Kosovo refugees and obliges all state bodies to pay more attention to kidnapped and missing persons, which was demanded by the opposition.
He announced that party whips will study the new government’s proposal and the consultations will be continued tomorrow.
We hope for a positive outcome since it was obvious today that Serbia has the will to reach an agreement, which is a good message for Serbs in Kosovo that Serbia is persistent in its preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty, stressed the Minister.
He said that it depends on the party whips’ response whether the proposed resolution will be on the agenda of the session scheduled for September 25.
